Through our home care services, First Steps' occupational therapists help children with behavioral challenges, cognitive delays, and sensory processing difficulties. Occupational therapists help optimize learning and facilitate routine-based skills and independence in the home environment. They assist children by teaching them in a play-based learning situation to improve activities of daily living and build foundational skills needed for everyday activities. Our focus is to help children with any kind of physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities thrive in their environments.


Lauren
Occupational Therapist & Team Lead
Lauren graduated with honors from Texas Tech University with a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. For her undergrad, she graduated with honors from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a minor in mass communications. Lauren takes pride in serving the pediatric population and helping kids and families reach their goals. She enjoys the opportunities to meet new families and build relationships. Lauren loves helping kids learn to be independent and confident. Her favorite hobbies include going to concerts, snowboarding, hiking, and visiting family.
Sydney
Occupational Therapist
Sydney graduated from Colorado State University with her Master of Occupational Therapy degree. For her undergrad, Sydney graduated summa cum laude from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She has clinical experience in outpatient pediatric clinics, home care, schools, and inpatient rehabilitation. Sydney is passionate about working with children and their families to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skills necessary for everyday living. She enjoys developing relationships families and connecting with children through play. Originally from Omaha, NE, Sydney enjoys exploring the mountains in Colorado through hiking, camping, and skiing.


Lexi
Occupational Therapist
Lexi graduated from St. Ambrose University with her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy where she completed research and program development focused on socioemotional skill development for children and youth. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Doane University in Crete, Nebraska. The majority of Lexi’s clinical experience is in pediatric home health. Additionally, she has experience in the inpatient rehabilitation setting and in school-based, community and mental health settings. She is passionate about empowering children and adolescents to live fulfilling lives by prioritizing the family’s goals and establishing lasting relationships. Lexi believes it is important to address the child and family unit as a whole and enjoys promoting social skills and emotional regulation strategies. In her spare time, Lexi loves being outdoors exploring Colorado—hiking, skiing, and exercising with her dog.
Brittni
Occupational Therapist
Brittni graduated from Indiana State University with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from the University of Cincinnati. Brittni has experience within the outpatient pediatric setting, where she has focused on using play as a tool for her patients to grow and develop. Her passion is to help children become more confident and independent and have fun doing it. Her dog, Eli, is a certified therapy dog who works with Brittni to help children become the best they can be. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, snowboarding, and golfing.


Sarah
Occupational Therapist
Sarah recently moved to Denver from her hometown of Chicago, IL. She graduated from Rush University in Chicago with her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy. Before that, she attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Sarah’s primary clinical experience was in an intensive therapeutic clinic setting. She gained skills working with young children individually, in groups, and virtually to support their participation and independence in daily routines across settings and environments. She also has experience working with clients across the lifespan in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. Sarah is passionate about finding creative solutions to increase her clients’ independence and engagement in the activities or routines that are most important to them and their families to build confidence and help clients reach their fullest potential. She loves building relationships with her clients and families and ensures that therapy is tailored to each child’s unique interests, strengths, and goals. Sarah is so excited to take advantage of all that Denver has to offer, and loves spending time outdoors, reading, and traveling in her spare time.
Stephanie
Occupational Therapist
Stephanie graduated from Colorado State University with her Master of Occupational Therapy degree. For her undergrad, Stephanie graduated summa cum laude from Linfield University in Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She has clinical experience with diverse populations across the lifespan, from pediatric home health to inpatient rehabilitation, to Assisted Living and memory care. Stephanie is passionate about promoting the highest quality of life for children and their families by empowering them to reach their goals. Stephanie values play and sensory exploration as tools to support growth, learning, and development. In her free time, Stephanie loves to spend time with friends and family, travel, and explore beautiful Colorado.
