FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you are new to First Steps or looking for clarification, this guide will help you learn more about our services and features. If your question is not answered here please do not hesitate to reach out.

What are your hours of operation?Our clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00AM – 6:00PM. Hours will vary for home care services, as our therapists create their own schedules.

What services do you offer?Individual OT, PT, ST sessions and group therapy sessions (play, feeding, social, etc.)

How can I pay for services?First Steps accepts a variety of insurance plans including Medicaid, Kaiser, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, and UMR. Home Health services maybe covered by Rocky Mountain Human Services, Developmental Pathways, and North Metro Community Services. We also accept private pay from all major credit cards and checks for clients who do not have insurance or those who have an out-of-network private insurance plan.

What age of patients do you serve?We see patients from birth to 25 years old.

What is the best way to schedule an appointment for Home Care or Clinic?Call or email our referral coordinator to request services.

What should I expect in an evaluation for my child?An evaluation allows a therapist to assess your child’s development. Assessments may include medical history information, standardized test(s), observation through play, and/or parent reports. Evaluations determine whether treatment is necessary. Treatment at First Steps cannot be initiated unless an evaluation has been completed.

Do you provide free consultations?Yes! We can offer free screening review over the phone or zoom for 10-15 minutes to help determine next steps. Please make sure to talk to your doctor about your child’s milestones and concerns first.

Do you work with children with Autism?Absolutely! Our trained providers work with a diverse range of clientele. Schedule a consultation if you are curious if we can meet your needs.

Do you involve the parents in the treatment process?Of Course! At First Steps, parents play a crucial role in the treatment process. Parents are welcome to join therapy sessions to observe and learn whenever it's suitable. Every session has dedicated time for parents and therapists to talk about progress and what activities were done during therapy. Additionally, parents receive home programs to support their child's progress across different settings and enhance their success in achieving goals.

How long does it take to get scheduled for an appointment?The process usually takes about 1-2 weeks depending upon how many new clients we are working with and the availability of openings.
